هدف پژوهش حاضر، بررسی نقش کلان‌داده‎ها در تصمیم‎سازی و سیاست‌گذاری است. روش پژوهش توصیفی-تحلیلی بوده و بر این فرض استوار است که کلان‌داده‎ها با اتکا به منابع مشخصی هم‌چون «اینترنت اشیاء»، «داده‎های باز» و «فرایند»ها، با کشف الگوهای ناشناخته به کاهش بوروکراسی دولتی، بهبود تصمیم‎سازی و سیاست‌گذاری کمک می‌کنند. این امر از طریق فرایند تحلیلی منتج از کلان‌داده‎ها به‌دست می‎آید و با دراختیار‌نهادن تصویری روشن و نظام‎مند از وضعیت حال، امکان مدیریت منابع را میسر ساخته و در نتیجه به پیش‎بینی وضعیت آینده منتهی می‌شود.
